Hobor and Callahan Bury Parrots Despite Being Outshot

Green Monkeys scored on 10 of their 58 shots while Purple Parrots put up 60 and still came away with four.

Purple Parrots had the shots, 60 to 58, and it did not matter. Green Monkeys took the lead midway through the first period when Jeremy Hobor scored off a PC Callahan assist, and after Duane Reed tied it early in the second, they scored the next two goals through Paul Reily and Brian Willet.

Ben Grove pulled Purple Parrots within one late in the second, with Drew Pfeil assisting. Green Monkeys answered with two more before the period ended: Hobor, then Willet, both set up by Callahan. Willet completed his hat trick early in the third to make it 6-2.

Grove scored again right after that, and Pfeil made it 6-4 midway through the third with Bernie Seth assisting. That was the last Purple Parrots goal. Hobor and Callahan scored back to back midway through the period, Callahan added another late, and Hobor finished it in the final minute.

Hobor ended with four goals and three assists, and Callahan had two goals and three assists. Steve Tomkowski made 56 saves for Green Monkeys. Matt Pfeil stopped 48 shots for Purple Parrots.

The Green Monkeys improve to 4-1-0; the Purple Parrots slip to 2-2-1.
